Reporting a bug
Say what you were doing right before it went wrong, which game it was, and whether you were at an online table or playing in Messages. A screenshot is worth several paragraphs. Bad translations count as bugs too: if something reads badly in your language, that is genuinely useful to hear, and it will get fixed.
Chips
Where do chips come from?
Everyone starts with 10,000. Below that, your stack refills by itself, a chip every six seconds, back up to 10,000 — the bell in the Chip Bank can tell you when it’s full. Beyond that, chips come from winning, from watching an ad, or from a chip pack.
I watched an ad. Where are my chips?
Each ad watched to the end adds 1,000 chips, up to five a day; the day’s five start over at midnight UTC. Google confirms the ad to our server first, which usually takes a few seconds and occasionally a few minutes. If the Chip Bank says the chips haven’t been added yet, they will be as soon as Google confirms, with nothing for you to do.
I bought a chip pack, but the chips didn’t appear.
The purchase is kept safe until the bank can add the chips, and the app keeps trying until it does: they land by themselves, and you are never charged twice. If they still haven’t arrived after a day, email us with the date of the purchase.
I have a new iPhone. Where are my chips?
Your chips belong to your Game Center account, not the device. Sign in to Game Center with the same account and they are there. Card backs bought through the App Store come back with Restore Purchases in Themes.
Is there real money in Pocket Poker?
No. Chips can be bought, but they are for play only: they have no cash value and can’t be cashed out, transferred, or exchanged for money or prizes.
Playing online
Do I need an account?
No separate account. Online tables and the Chip Bank use your Game Center sign-in (Settings › Game Center). Games in Messages, Learn, and the AI trainer need nothing at all.
It says it couldn’t reach the tables, or that Game Center couldn’t confirm who I am.
Check your connection and that you are signed in to Game Center, then try again in a moment. If it keeps happening, email us with your iOS version.
What happens if I leave in the middle of a hand?
Your hand is played out for you — checking when it can, folding when it can’t — and your chips go back to your stack. If you only switch apps for a moment, your seat waits a minute for you.
Playing in Messages
Does my friend need the app?
Everyone who plays needs it installed. Anyone in the thread who doesn’t have it is given a link to install it.
Does it work in a group chat?
Yes — one on one or with the whole group, turn by turn, at everyone’s own pace.
Card backs
I bought a card back in Card Games for iMessage. Why don’t I see it here?
Card backs are shared between Pocket Poker and Card Games for iMessage. Open Pocket Poker once so it can load your designs, check that your devices use the same iCloud account, or use Restore Purchases in Themes. If it still hasn’t appeared, email us the name of the design and which app you bought it in.
Refunds
Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are too: visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, and choose the purchase. When a chip pack is refunded, its chips are taken back from your stack, as far as they are still there.
